Alpha child

17 November 2018 @ 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Who’s in charge in your home? Often in wanting to make things work for our kids, the message they get is, “I’m in charge”. While supporting them and encouraging their own voice is important, children feel safe and secure when parents take the lead, and they aren’t the ones in control.

This course, based on the attachment-based developmental approach of Dr Neufeld, will help you understand this ‘alpha dynamic’ better. When we understand why our kids want to take charge, we’ll better understand how to take care of their needs, and bring them back into a connected relationship with us.
Course objectives

  • To uncover the existence and purpose of alpha and dependent instincts
  • To reveal the inherent hierarchy in attachment and address the concerns
  • To understand the ideal alpha/dependent dance and its function
  • To introduce the ‘alpha complex’
  • To provide an understanding of the many faces of an alpha complex
  • To understand the role of emotion and vulnerability within alpha instincts
This course is appropriate for parents, teachers, therapists and professionals working with children and youth.
Adrienne Wood is a certified Course Facilitator with the Neufeld Institute. For more information on Adrienne, check out her website.
