Heart of Space – Training Enrolment

Below you’ll find all of the information you need to enrol in the Heart of Space – Foundational or Facilitator training courses. At the end of these courses you will be able to either support or Facilitate a Space for you and your baby. Please carefully read the information below and then click the link at the bottom of the page to enrol. N.B There is one form for enrolment in both levels of training – please indicate which role you are training for when filling out the form.

Training is suitable for Community and Independent Partners, Support People and Facilitators who will be delivering Space for you and your baby.

 

 

1. The Heart of Space – Foundational training

Cost
The Heart of Space –  Foundational Training – online $100 ex.GST

This is an online course delivered in iQualify. The course takes approx. 6-8 hours to complete and trainees can work at their own pace. Courses begin on the first day of each calendar month and must be completed within the month. Please take this into consideration when choosing the month that you would like to complete your training. 

Participants will need

  • Access to a computer and internet
  • An active email address
  • Commitment to complete the training within the calendar month

Delivery includes

  • Written material
  • Video material to watch online
  • Questions and quizzes
  • Written activities
  • Group interaction via discussion in the platform

By the end of this course you will be able to support a Space for you and your baby session.
You will be able to –

  • Identify the purpose of Space for you and your baby and how this relates to other parenting support services in NZ including their organisation.
  • Identify and describe key features of environmental influences in Space for you and your baby sessions.
  • Distinguish and outline how the four core components of Space for you and your baby sessions are applied to babies. 
  • Distinguish and outline how the four core components of Space for you and your baby sessions are applied to parents.
  • Summarise the fundamental roles, legislation, values and structure of Space for you and your baby.

 

 

2. Facilitator Training

Cost
Facilitation Training – two day onsite training $200 ex.GST

A face to face group workshop run over two days. The first day is run from 9am – 6pm and the second day is run from 9am – 4pm.

Participants will need

  • To have completed The Heart of Space – Foundational training
  • To provide their own lunch each day (with a shared lunch on the second day)
  • Commitment to full attendance and participation in the training workshop

By the end of the course you will be able to facilitate a Space for you and your baby session.
You will be able to –

  • Identify motivational factors for attending Space and how to support participants
  • Compare facilitation theory and approaches and their use in Space
  • Identify and accommodate learning styles in Space
  • Recognise and demonstrate communication skills in Space
  • Discuss and apply group development theory in Space
  • Recognise levels of belonging in Space groups
  • Explore life span development and key theorists and apply to Space
  • Explore key brain development theory and apply to Space
  • Analyse facilitation tools and strategies and when to use them
  • Plan a session (including presenting a topic)

 

 

3. Professional Development

Cost
Professional Development – POA

Professional Development could be a regional workshop, conference or an online course (e.g. Brain Development). It may be an opportunity to up-skill, contribute to others learning or attend a refresher workshop for trained facilitators. Come and be inspired, share, and connect with others.
