Building great leaders
Every child has the potential to be a leader – they may just need a little encouragement. National Young Leaders Days are large-scale annual leadership events held in major cities around the country for primary, intermediate and secondary school students. The designed to equip young people with the skills to lead themselves and others well.
Since 2001 over 110,000 students have been empowered to fulfil their dreams and become great leaders at a National Young Leaders Day in New Zealand.
The objectives of NYLD are:
- Student empowerment
- Promoting positivity
Schools nominate top student leaders such as captains, vice-captains, prefects, house captains, sports captains and other student leaders to attend. The events include inspirational talks from New Zealand leaders, question time, videos, exercises, music and interactive activities.
Parents play an important role in the development of leadership skills. Attending a National Young Leaders Day is just the start of a child’s leadership journey. We encourage parents to support their children to fulfill their dreams and become a great leader.
Parents can bring their own children to NYLD. You will need to stay with your child during the event.Find events
