Pio’s appearances as a comedian, actor, radio show host, musician and performer over the last decade have established him as one of New Zealand’s most popular television and radio entertainers.
Of his involvement with The Parenting Show, Pio says, “When a group of people get together and make a conscious decision to improve their parenting skills, there is a ripple effect that begins to impact on the immediate family, the community and eventually the whole country. For me personally, it’s great to be in a room of people who want to make a difference and just enjoy the buzz. The Parenting Show is a fun, informative presentation that enables people to soak up information in a comfortable non-threatening environment – it is that simple. Over the last few years I have visited all sorts of different communities around the country and every time I do a presentation, I learn something new from the people I meet. I am inspired by the passion shown by parents of all types and backgrounds to improve their whanau life”.
Pio is passionate about seeing The Parenting Show message reach as many Maori communities as possible. It allows him to deliver hope, humour and inspiration characteristic of himself and the programme he supports.
Pio and his wife Debbie have three – as he puts it – ‘full on’ boys that are the centre of all they do. Of Nga Puhi and Te Rarawa descent, Pio’s passion for New Zealand is deep seated. He is sought after as an MC and keynote speaker for corporate events and community functions. “Bringing up kids well and having fun with them is just the best thing you can do.”
