I remember when I first became a Dad I was overwhelmed with the responsibility of being a parent. I was also challenged about what role I played in the family. There was all the functional stuff of supporting my wife Amanda, changing nappies, feeding and cleaning, but there was also the whole area of what sort of legacy I wanted to leave my kids as their Dad. What sort of values did I want my kids to have, how were they going to carry themselves in this world, what were they going to stand for, how were they going to respect others and how did I spend time in their world on a regular basis. My life, like many, could be so busy that a lot of these ideals ended up taking a back seat.

I am often reminded by Ian Grant that we are the builders of our kid’s lives and everyone or everything else is a sub contractor. We are the parents and these are our kids and I realise I am in a privileged position having all this great information at Parents Inc. at my finger tips! But the good thing about our website is now it's at your fingertips too!

Fathers’ Day is coming up so I would like to encourage all Dads that their role in their kid’s lives is vital. To all our families let’s take the time out to honor our Dads!Family is everything!
