Build a great family team
Great kids need great parents and with the right tools anyone can be a great parent! Whether you are a grandparent, parenting with a partner, a sole parent, a blended or foster family Toolbox has something to offer. If you are looking for practical strategies, inspiration, encouragement and insight then a Toolbox parenting group is for you.
Positive, practical and fun!
The four Toolbox groups - Early Years (0-6), Middle Years (6-12), Tweens and Teens (12-18) and Building Awesome Whānau (0-12) are available throughout the country. In an informal, relaxed and friendly environment (often someone's home) participants are equipped with practical skills and strategies that can be immediately put to use. Over six sessions key parenting principles are explored and participants are encouraged in their parenting.
Courses are facilitated by trained local volunteers who are friendly and supportive. They keep each session flowing smoothly and help participants to engage with the material. Each session leaves participants with a range of activities and strategies to try at home.
The cost of the course is $75 per person or $110 per couple (incl. GST). Subsidies are available upon request for those who can't afford these fees. Participants who attend an Early or Middle Years course receive a free subscription to Parenting magazine. If you have attended a Tweens and Teens course you will receive a copy of the Attitude resource Connected.
In Australia, Toolbox groups are available in each state and are delivered in all three age groups. The cost of the course is set by the local facilitator or sponsoring organisation.
Free for caregivers
Thanks to recent government funding we are able to provide Toolbox free of charge to all grandparents raising grandchildren, foster carers, whanau caregivers, home for life parents and adopters.
